Xcode/Git: Can't see old version in source control -

i've followed basic tutorial on how use git in xcode. i've made new project git initialised when created it. made changes , after hitting commit, instead of getting old , new files side side i'm seeing nothing on right hand side, says 'file unversioned'. have git turned on - got modified tag example made changes couple of files. ideas why so?enter image description here
